Less is more - All About Nano Influencers

There are several types of social media influencers as shown in the table below. In this post, I will try to explain who nano influencers are and why they are becoming increasingly important.

Nano influencer is anyone that has somewhere between a thousand and ten thousand followers.

It is safe to say that in today’s world, consumers are frustrated by encountering too many intrusive ads so marketers needed to find a new way of advertising without adding to that clutter and annoying their potential customers. And they found a solution in nano influencers. They are especially important to brands that are really interested in WOM (word of mouth) marketing. People that are considered nano influencers are just ordinary people well known in their little niches and in their communities where they actually have influence. They only have a few thousand followers who they usually know in real life and are engaging with their community.

If you see an influencer posting about some product (that you might even be interested in) on their social media, you would conclude straight away that it is a paid ad and probably not even consider it whereas someone that you actually know posting the same thing would seem more like a genuine recommendation.

For brands, there are many benefits of working with nano influencers as well and one of them is that they don’t care about growing their account and becoming professional influencers, they are just regular people who have their jobs and care only about posting good content and living their life normally. That’s what makes them so attractive, it doesn’t feel forced nor does it feel like advertising, it’s just people making recommendations on social media.

Nano-influencers generally have some of the highest engagement rates in the industry and seem to be the future of Influencer Marketing.
