Companies often deal with many project proposals but only some of them will get an approval and a necessary resources like budget and time, necessary for it to be executed. In order to make a decision which projects are going to be selected, project screening models are used to determine the criteria for project selection. The most common approach is to determine a set of criteria relevant to the project selection and create a checklist which is then applied to all the potential projects. However, not all chosen criteria has the same weight. For example strategic can be more important than financial criteria for the organization in question when selecting the most suitable project so this needs to be taken into account. Once the weight is determined for each selected criteria, the team evaluates each of them with reference to importance. In the end the score for each project is calculated and the one with the highest score is going to be the one the company will continue working on. In other words, a weighted scoring model creates a value-weighted numerical score for potential projects that is specific for the team and organization's objectives. This was a numeric score can be generated and help decide which project will be of most value to the stakeholders.
Project manger, team administrator and team members are involved in this process. One of the most important roles of a project manager is acting as the connector between the team and the executives. Apart from that they are responsible for creating an agenda, setting up meetings, assigning the roles etc. Team administrator is responsible for different administrative duties surrounding the project like documentation, items discussed, meeting management and handling the project budget. Team members role is taking the output of the meeting such as scope statement, WBS, list of stakeholders and creating a document with details of the process.
